Where your gift goes
HOUSE, Inc. is a small organization with a volunteer board. Administrative overhead is kept to a minimum so that the largest possible share of every donation reaches families in the form of direct rental assistance.
Donations are used to pay rent, mortgage arrears, and core housing costs directly to landlords or housing providers. Designated gifts are applied to the purpose you specify; if a designation becomes fully funded, remaining funds are redirected to the area of greatest need.

Designating your gift
You may direct your gift to a specific purpose. If your designation is fully funded, the remainder will be applied to the area of greatest need unless you specify otherwise. Current designation options include:
- Greatest need (default — funds used wherever the next approved application is)
- Emergency rental assistance (rent arrears and imminent-eviction prevention)
- Housing stabilization (security deposits, application fees, first month's rent for families in transition)
Tax receipts
HOUSE, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Donations are deductible under IRC §170. Bequests, devices, transfers, and gifts are deductible under §§2055, 2106, and 2522.
For donations of $250 or more, a written acknowledgment is provided for your tax records. Email donations@houseinc501c3.com if you need a receipt or have questions about your contribution.
A note on fraud awareness
Unfortunately, small nonprofits are frequent targets of check-overpayment and similar fraud. We will never ask you to:
- Forward any portion of a donation to a third party
- Pay any fee to receive a donation
- Provide bank login credentials, wire instructions to an unfamiliar account, or gift card numbers
If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from HOUSE, Inc. or a board member, please report it to donations@houseinc501c3.com.
